Washington State commitment Montrel Meander remained unseen beneath the radar until late last week when the Texas FBS schools finally started to take notice of the do-it-all four star from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo.
Texas co-offensive coordinator Darrell Wyatt visited Palo Duro High School this past Friday and met with both Meander and his family. Meander was subsequently offered a scholarship at wide receiver and took a visit to Austin this weekend to check out the campus.
We were able to catch up with Meander today after returning home from his visit. "The visit to Texas went well," said Meander. "I am still committed to Washington State."
Washington State likes Meander at free safety while Texas likes him at wide receiver. "I wouldn't mind playing wide receiver or free safety at the next level."
Meander clocked a 21.46 200-meter at the state track meet last spring. He is a three-sport athlete, also participating in basketball as well as track and football.
He was recently rated a 90 overall prospect by 247Sports, including No. 33 prospect in the state of Texas and the 24th safety prospect in the nation.
Meander's friend and teammate Charleston White is also committed to Washington State.
Baylor had also tried to enter the picture late, but Meander told us he hasn't called Baylor back. With Signing Day on Wednesday, it appears Meander will stick with his commitment to Washington State.
